We let Mother Nature set the menu, and right now she’s serving the last of summer with the first of fall. Here’s what’s on the tables at Windsor Street this week.

Heirloom tomatoes

Odd shapes, deep colours and the real tomato flavour you wait all year for. They’re at their best right now — slice them thick, salt them well, and keep them out of the fridge.

Local Source Bakery

Bread, baked in-house

Every day there’s a selection of breads, cookies, cinnamon buns and more from our peanut-free, GMO-free bakery. The star of the show is still the Molasses Seed Bread.

Around the shop

More than a green grocer

Local Source encourages participation in the local food economy by purveying fresh, seasonal farm goods — and a little bit of everything else local. The message is simple: quality ingredients make great food.

  • Neighbourhood green grocer

Fruit and veg from local farms, when Mother Nature says they’re ready.

  • Local Source Bakery

Peanut-free and GMO-free. Breads, cookies, cinnamon buns and more, every day.

  • Lion & Bright Kitchen

Local, seasonal prepared foods to take away — for all kinds of dietary needs.

  • Root cellar

Hearty keepers for the colder months.

  • Greenhouse

Cut flowers, bouquets, seed packets and plants.

  • Quebec & Atlantic cheese

A deli case of cheese from Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

  • Cacao, chocolate & coffee

Chocolate and cacao for the sweet tooth, coffee for the morning.

Who grows it

Friendship, flowers & food

This summer our manager Dani paid a visit to our friends at Fill Yer Boots Farm, Four Seasons Farm and MacDougall Meadows. They’re three of the more than 175 growers, makers, farmers and producers Local Source supports.

Our team can help you with local alternatives for your grocery basket — and they have wonderful stories to tell about the people who make it.
